pink is my signature color

$500.00

I know, I know, you take one look at me and think, "huh, I thought she'd have said purple." I grew up in a pink bedroom in the 80's (I still have the gingham blanket from my childhood bed). Steel Magnolias FTW ("My colors are 'blush' and 'bashful'." "Your colors are pink and pink.").

This was fired on the floor of the kiln, and when we unloaded it, I said WOW and immediately burst into tears. I mean, look at it. It glows. I generally use the same elements for nearly all my work (Jack Troy porcelain/BwhaleD and BchunderD over black underglaze with some collected ash for spice/Morty the salt kiln), but with atmospheric firing, every kilnload is different. I have never seen pearlescent pink like this before! It is a "reliably unreliable" artform. Those leopard-spotty gold crystals? Molten ash. Ridiculous.

As with all HighFired "accelerated fossils," actual c@nnabis sat!va leaves are pressed into the clay, left to dry, and burned out during the first firing. The resulting ash is collected for future use, details are highlighted with underglaze, more glaze is applied (or not) , and this piece was fired to 2300F in salt.

Size is approximately 7.75"w x 5.25"h x 1.75"d. Top rack dishwasher-safe.
