Durable with a clear salty message, this porcelain dish is part of the Accelerated Fossils series. Hefty and just the right size for contemplation.
Salt-fired ware has seen upwards of 2300°F over a period of about twenty-four hours. Eighteen pounds of regular table salt are introduced to the kiln when it reaches about 2000°F, one pound at a time. At this temperature, the salt vaporizes and coats every surface inside the kiln. It does amazing things to the clay, the glazes, and sets about destroying the kiln from the inside out.
Lead free, food safe, top rack dishwasher safe.
